REACH pre-registration date nears

The deadline for businesses to pre-register in order to comply with the European Union (EU)-enforced Regulation, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) legislation is fast approaching. The Forum of Private Business (FPB) is reminding businesses that use, make or supply chemicals to record such substances by 1 December 2008. REACH is expected to affect most businesses, even if they are just users of chemicals, such as cleaners and car repair businesses. In January 2009 businesses can check whether the chemicals they use are pre-registered by chemical suppliers and manufacturers.
