Support small firms in pre-Budget report, FPB urges Government
The Forum of Private Business (FPB) is urging the Government to show its commitment to small firms in its pre-Budget report, which is due out on 24 November. The FPB wants to see measures which will reduce red tape and tax burdens on small firms to help ease them through the impending recession. It has tabled suggestions drawn up from member polls, which include simplifying health and safety regulations, reducing Fuel Excise Duty, cutting corporation tax to 20p and automatic enrolment for Small Business Rate Relief. The Government plans to increase the lower rate of corporation tax to 22% in April 2009.
