Better Business magazine

Better Business magazine is a bi-monthly subscription-based journal for small and independent business owner-managers, freelancers, consultants and business advisers.

The magazine was originally launched in 1992 by Sophie Chalmers and Andrew James of Active Information and has built up a loyal band of subscribers, some of whom have been with the magazine since it began. Cobweb acquired Better Business from in September 2007 and has published the magazine since.

Articles in the August/September 2010 issue of Better Business:

  • A twenty five percent slice of... a lot, lot less! - As the coalition Government continues with its plans to reduce public spending, small businesses are potentially going to become the biggest losers. So what can you do to ensure your business wins some of those elusive public sector contracts?
  • Mediation: everyone wins - How mediation can leave everyone happy with the outcome and avoid a business dispute heading for the courts.
  • Desk rental - The future office space for freelancers - Many businesses have spare office space they don't use - and freelancers often prefer an office environment to working from home.
  • Market and consumer trends - Find out what's currently hot and what's not in Better Business' regular review of consumer and industry trends in the UK.
  • "I just wanted to make time to say that the new look and new content Better Business is absolutely marvellous. I read the latest edition last night and was once again bowled over. So useful and focused and unpatronising. It's altogether more serious, not in the sense of not being entertaining, but in conveying the idea that the entrepreneurial spirit requires commitment and passion (not amateurism and short cuts). My huge thanks to you and your team."
